Well here she is again on the phone…
“just like me, hates to be alone. We just like to sit at home, and rip on the president.” -Meet Virginia- Train.
Why does the world seem so lonely? Billions and billions of people in it, tons of media forms in which to connect, tons of places and ways to interact and meet and greet, and somehow we all feel alone at some point.
Is it because no one is taking the initiative anymore to maintain or create friendships? Step right up, step right up! Here is your one and only chance to be my friend- screw it up, I’m lost forever- do as I say and we’ll get along just fine!- when the hell did this become the mentality of society? I’m no fan, no fan at all of this procedure (especially since everyone I know who uses it is downright miserable and complains that they never get invited to anything).
The point here being that everyone in the world crawls into bed at night, stares at the ceiling and wonders for just one moment who is thinking of them. So pick up the phone and text someone you think about, give them a call, send them an email, facebook them, “like” their blog, or just say a little prayer for them. Never forget that someone is thinking about you- but sometimes you are the one that has to act. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy, and nothing is worth the work more than relationships with those you can call when you feel lonely.
Trust Train- you are someone’s Virginia.
